I am an adult learner and for various reasons can’t manage weekly lessons. Could I come less frequently – perhaps fortnightly or monthly?
Yes – less frequent lessons can be arranged although it would not be possible to purchase lesson- bundles at the reduced rate, and certain popular time-slots (e.g late afternoons) may not always be available.
Do you do teach in students’ homes? It would be more convenient for me to have lessons at my house.”
No – I am unable to offer home visits.
Do you offer a discount if two or more family members would like to have lessons?
I am unable to offer discounts. I try to keep my rates as reasonable as possible and a discount offered to a pair of siblings would be unfair on solo students.
Is it possible to have lessons in the morning before work/school?
Yes – I can offer morning lessons from 8 a.m. (But please do not arrive earlier than this)
I would like my son/daughter to begin lessons but he/she is not yet six years old.
Young children often have a very short attention span. It is possible to begin musical activities with them but in the early stages these will be based on singing games, pulse and rhythm, with just occasional short visits to the piano. If you are very keen for your child to begin learning music then I would suggest we spend a few weeks– perhaps equivalent to a school term – with this pre-instrumental training as a ‘taster’ to gauge the child’s enthusiasm for music. If I feel during this period that the child is not yet ready for piano lessons then I will advise that this be deferred until a later date. It is important that the child regards music as a pleasurable activity and not a difficult, stressful one.
